Changes for Spring 2010

There is one significant change for Spring 2010:

Coaches not in possession of a Risk Managment Card will NOT be allowed to particiapte in games - no exceptions!
All Pass Cards issued this Spring to Coaches will have their Risk Managment Number and Expiration Date on them. If the date is current the Pass Card may be shown instead of the Risk Managment Card (this only applies to GVSA Cards)

There were three significant changes made in Fall 2009:

We no longer accept game results on voicemail. All games results must be entered at the website (www.gvsoccer.org). This has the benefit that the Standings are updated immediately.
We have asked all Clubs to assign Assistant Referees (ARs) to all U10 and younger GVSA games.
Referee payments have changed:

GAME PROCEDURES
This document tells you everything you need to do before, during and after a game. This includes contacting the opposing team, filling out the GVSA Official Game Report, how to pay officials and what to after each game to make sure all results are properly reported. Game Scores may be reported online (Click on Schedules, Results&Standings, the choose Spring 2010 and the appropriate division. Clicking on a Game Number will let the score be reported. Game Scores should always be reported within 24 hours by the winning team (or the home team in case of a tie). We no longer will accept game reports sent via Email.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can we still add players to our roster? - If your team's roster is not full, Yes, but there wil be a late fee - CONTACT YOUR CLUB REGISTRAR!
Help! I've lost our Game Reports - You can print a blank report and fill it out. The form is available under GVSA Forms on the GVSA website.
Can my son play on another team in GVSA? No, under no circumstances may a player play on two teams in the same league - this is a State rule!
We're short of players - can a player from another team fill in? No!
We're only going to have 12 players on Sunday. Can we reschedule the game? Only with the permission of both clubs and a $25 fee will be required. Remember that a game can take place (U13 and older) if as few as 7 players are available. It is a great lesson to all the players on a team if this happens. The ones who actually show up will solve the problem at the next practice. We highly discourage rescheduling: It causes problems with getting Officials and penalizes those families who have set aside the original date and time and now cannot make it on a new date. If the opposing club does not wish to reschedule the game it must be played as originally scheduled.
Our coach has to go a wedding on Saturday? What do we do? All teams should have an Assistant Coach. If not your club may assign another coach to handle the game. Remember that the games are for the players, not the Coaches! Rescheduled games inevitably mean that some players will have to miss them, as their families have made other commitments.
One of our players received a Red Card last game. Does he have to sit out the next game? Yes!! A player or coach receiving a Red Card must sit out the next two GVSA games (Tournaments and other non-league games do not count), unless the card was for a Second Cautionable (Yellow Card) offense or denying an obvious scoring opportunity, in which case the suspension is one game. Any player receiving three yellow cards in a season in three different GVSA games is also automatically suspended for one game.
- The game in which a player is ejected is NOT one of the games of the suspension - it starts with the next GVSA game.
- The suspension must be served in the next GVSA game(s) - there is no picking or choosing as to when it is served.
- Suspensions not served carry over to the next year
- It is the coach's responsibility to know why a player was shown a Red Card and to enforce the suspension, even if not notified by GVSA or his Club.
- A suspended player or coach participating in a GVSA game will cause the game to be forfeited, and the coach's action in allowing this will be referred to the disciplinary committee.
