Tryouts - Fall 2010/Spring 2011
Fall 2010/Spring 2011 Tryouts
We will post tryout information for Fall 2010/Spring 2011 teams as we receive it and remove it as tryouts are completed . If you are looking for a team do not hesitate to contact any of our clubs at any time! If is often the case that existing teams are looking for a player or two.
General Information
GVSA Tryouts are open to all interested players who are the appropriate age and gender. Clubs may require players to reside in a specific geographical area (e.g. a School District), but this is rarely the case. If your player does not make a team do not hesitate to contact other clubs, as they often are looking for players also.
Players should show up for tryouts ready to play soccer (bring a ball, shin guards and shoes) and should bring their own water. Please do not wear club uniforms. Players under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Typically you should arrive 30 minutes before the start of the tryout so that you can register and your player has time to get ready.
Clubs typically will form as any teams as they feasibly can. Tryouts are meant to form teams based on ability level and interest, not to turn away players. Clubs typically will form additional teams in an age group if a coach is available and there are enough players. If a player misses the open tryouts a club may, at their option, offer a trial to fill a position.
The cost to play for a club will vary significantly as some clubs attend tournaments, do off season training and may pay their coaches. Please make sure you are clear on what onbligations playing for a club will entail. Ask them any questions you may have.
Players are registered with a team within a club for one year, starting August 1 and ending July 31 of the following year. Players may not play on two teams in GVSA at the same time, although they may participate in other leagues including the Michigan State Premier program (MSPSP).
Premier teams play in the Michigan State Premier program (MSPSP) or the Midwest Regional League (MRL). All other teams play in GVSA.
Clubs are listed below in alphabetic order. For additional contacts or websites click on our GVSA Clubs & Contacts link on the left.
No Club may ask a player to sign a GVSA Registration form or make a commitment in any other way prior to June 16 . This allows players to attend tryouts for more than one club, if they wish. If you are pressured into making a verbal commitment it is completely non-binding as it should not have been asked for! Premier teams may ask players to sign on June 12, after their tryouts.
